Serial
ATA (SATA) is a new technology, viewed by storage and IT
industry experts as the most extensive interface transition in the last
25 years of storage history. SATA is specifications-based, and
supported by every major disk drive vendor, desktop/server OEM, and
relevant component suppliers. Industry analysts expect it to be adopted
in virtually all desktop workstations and about 50% of enterprise
servers by 2005. Proximity Data
has built a business around this large-scale technology transition as
it presents an unprecedented opportunity for the company to deliver
innovative, best-in-class engineering design concepts and practical
SATA solutions to its clients.
Proximity Data is currently offering
an advanced, highest performance oriented line up of SATA solutions,
ranging from SATA Host Bus Adapters, (PCI-X and cPCI), Interconnect
Assemblies, through a complete, enclosure-based Network Storage
Solution, custom-designed and offered to select Original Design
Manufacturers or Electronic Manufacturing Services Companies, or other
Business Partners, needing a time-to-market and cost advantage.
Proximity Data adheres to the goal
of making its solutions unique in providing to a select group of
clients:
•High performance and proven reliability
•Economical
design process
•Scalability for
large volume
•Highly
exchangeable parts
•Configurability
per requirements
•Low tooling
requirements
•Simple BOMs
This approach
allows the company to deliver high value to its clients’ end-user
customers. The attractiveness of Proximity
Data as a strategic technology solutions design partner to its
clients is in its highly competitive, and customer value driven
technology vision and roadmap, which is available to select clients on
a semi-exclusive basis.
Proximity Data has also developed a
unique vision of taking SATA to the next level, rather than treat it
only as the new standard of storage interconnects. Proximity Data has
created a very
compelling and highly rationalized technological vision of a “Serial
ATA Storage Building Blocks” concept, offering customers an extremely
economical storage system that is unified and simplified, highly
modular, scalable and easily configurable. This type of storage system
will allow customers to merge primary on-line storage with near-line
storage, backup and archiving in a single enclosure, or a bigger system
through aggregation of modular components.
Proximity Data, Inc. was founded in
January 2003. The company’s management team consists of industry
experts with a track record of success in managing start-ups in like or
related fields through engineering innovation, general management,
business strategy development and its execution. It is lead by Mr.
Zbigniew Sobolewski, the Founder of Proximity Data, as well as,
previously, of Lefthand
Networks, a venture-backed, network storage company located in
Boulder, Colorado.
Proximity Data works with leading
technology vendors, incorporating their technology elements into its
engineering designs. These vendors include Intel,
Vitesse
Semiconductor, Hitachi Global
Storage Technologies, Maxtor,
and Seagate Technology and many
others.
